NAPA virtual learning opportunities are heading back to “basics” this fall with the introduction of the Road Basics Webinar Series.
Learn more and register for each webinar.
The webinar series kicks off Aug. 13 with an explanation of how aggregate sourcing, processing, and handling can influence mixture quality, plant efficiency, and pavement performance.
From Rock to Road: Aggregates Selection and Testing for Asphalt Production Performance is set for 1 p.m. ET on Aug. 13.
Module 1 focuses on materials, taking learners from the quarry where the rock is sourced to the finished pavement.
Prospective learners can register for all webinars at once to receive further attendance instructions via email. The webinars will also be recorded for future publication.
More webinars will be added as they are finalized. To receive all the latest on virtual learning from NAPA, adjust your subscription settings.
Why Road Basics?
Road Basics aims to provide a practical, coherent view of the entire asphalt pavement lifecycle.
So who should attend?
- estimators
- operations managers
- decision makers
- familiar with, new to, or interested in learning more about the asphalt pavement industry

The Road Basics 5-Part Framework
The multi-part series is packaged into five modules, each focused on a specific phase/aspect of asphalt road construction.
- Materials: Building blocks, aggregates, binders, and mix design (BMD).
- Production: Consistently delivering quality mixtures at the asphalt plant.
- Construction: Transforming mixtures into smooth, durable pavements in the field.
- Pavements & Performance: Design, preservation, and maximizing long-term performance.
- Other Critical Considerations: Environmental, sustainability, and economic factors shaping the industry daily.

The series, set to run through 2027, will be similar in scope to the Back to Basics webinar series from nearly a decade ago, but with updated research, new speakers, and a module approach that ensures the knowledge reaches those who need it most.
