OSHA finalizes ‘Walkaround Rule’
On April 1, OSHA finalized its Worker Walkaround Representative Designation Process, also known as its Walkaround Rule.
While NAPA and almost two dozen other construction stakeholders questioned the agency’s authority and other pragmatic and logistical matters regarding the rule, the final rule remains almost unchanged from its proposed version.
The rule strengthens the rights of employees by allowing another employee or a non-employee third-party representative to accompany an OSHA compliance officer during an inspection of their workplace. The rule will likely be challenged in court.
