TRB calls for papers on accelerated pavement testing

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) will convene its 7th International Conference on Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) July 20-24, 2025 in Auburn, Alabama and is seeking author submissions.

Act now! Submission window open until Nov. 1.

This interactive conference, hosted by the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) and sponsored by TRB’s standing committees on Pavement Structural Testing and Evaluation (AKP40) and Pavement Condition Evaluation (AKP10), will promote idea sharing, research, and showcases noteworthy practices and solutions.

Participants will gain valuable insights into emerging needs and trends for future advancements in APT, while also providing an opportunity to shape the future of APT engineering and management with an international audience.

The conference invites submissions on topics related to APT and facilities at two levels: full papers and abstracts. Presentations will cover project-specific studies on various topics, including asphalt binder performance, interlayer systems, hot- and warm-mix asphalt, concrete surfacing, cement stabilization, and airfield pavements.

All submissions will undergo peer review by a technical committee in accordance with the TRB review process. Authors of accepted papers and abstracts will be invited to present their work in various formats, including podium presentations, posters, panels, or workshops during the conference.

The 2025 conference will be at the Hotel at Auburn University & Dixon Conference Center. The conference will be beneficial for current and prospective APT facility owners, researchers, road agency professionals, and pavement engineers interested in leveraging APT data to enhance pavement design methods.

Participants will be part of a unique forum to address the various aspects and benefits APT from an international perspective, and gain insight into needs and upcoming trends for future developments in accelerated pavement testing, while mapping the future of engineering and managing APT.

Presentations will cover project specific investigations including asphalt binder performance, interlayer systems, hot- and warm-mix asphalt, airfield pavements, and more.

Additional sessions will also cover:

  • Establishing and reviewing facilities
  • Cost-benefit
  • Implementation of APT findings into practices
  • Instrumentation
  • Calibration of mechanistic-empirical performance models
  • Linking APT and long-term pavement performance (LTPP)
