AAPTP releases airfield asphalt binder guide

A report from the Airport Asphalt Pavement Technology Program (AAPTP) aims to simplify the asphalt binder selection process for airfield flexible pavement designs.

The report, completed in July, documents recommendations for selecting asphalt binder based on location, climate, aircraft loading, speed, and pavement layer. The program also aims to develop a web-based tool specifiers can use to select an appropriate binder grade for asphalt mixtures in a pavement structure.
