NAPA weighs-in on OSHA’s proposed Heat Illness Standard

On Jan. 13, NAPA submitted comments on OSHA’s heat injury and illness prevention rulemaking. Identifying our industry’s progress on meeting the agency’s years-long National Emphasis Program, we emphasized that a one-size-fits-all rule would not be effective or tenable due to logistical constraints associated with asphalt road construction work.
As an alternative, NAPA called to OSHA’s attention ongoing efforts to protect road construction workers from outdoor heat and reminded the agency they still have regulatory authority to cite companies that do not properly protect their workers from heat exposure.
