NAPA weighs-in on EPA’s proposed PFAS stormwater regulations

NAPA submitted two major sets of comments regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed 2026 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for Stormwater discharge from mix plants.

While the sector-specific MSGP continues to be revised every 5 years, the latest proposed revisions simply are untenable for the majority of industries and businesses. At issue is the new requirement to monitor for PFAS from stormwater runoff.

NAPA’s association-only comments focused on the impracticality of sampling for PFAS during a stormwater event while wearing water-resistant raingear, which among other items, are known sources of PFAS. And our coalition comments similarly emphasize the questionable requirements to monitor for certain analytes over the last decade.

NAPA continues to work on behalf of its members and industry to inject some modicum of practicality into ongoing EPA stormwater regulations.
