FIRST ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED ASPHALT PAVEMENT PLANTS ARE NAPA MEMBERS
Six asphalt mix plants from NAPA members were recognized at the NAPA 2025 Annual Meeting as 2025 ENERGY STAR Certified Facilities. More ENERGY STAR certified plants were announced in June.

Four of those six plants are owned by subsidiaries of CRH Americas: Cadillac Asphalt’s Rawsonville Plant in Belleville, Michigan, Callanan Industries’ Cordell Road Drum Plant in Schenectady, New York, Inland Asphalt’s Sullivan Plant in Spokane, Washington, and Tilcon Connecticut’s New Britain Drum Plant.
Rogers Group’s Candora Asphalt Plant in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Huntsville Plant in Alabama round out the inaugural list of certified plants.
Rogers Group’s Candora & Huntsville asphalt mix plants were among the first in the nation to receive ENERGY STAR® certification from the EPA for outstanding energy efficiency and sustainability.
Rogers Group Inc. is proud to announce that its Candora asphalt plant in Knoxville, Tennessee, and its Huntsville asphalt plant in Alabama, have earned the ENERGY STAR® Plant Certification – a prestigious recognition of energy efficiency and sustainability in the asphalt industry.
Both plants achieved an impressive Energy Performance Indicator (EPI) score of 88, underscoring Rogers Group’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. This certification, newly introduced in January 2024, positions Rogers Group among the first in the industry to reach this milestone. The achievement was recognized at the annual National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) meeting in Maui, Hawaii, this past February.
When asked about how they achieved this certification, both plant managers highlighted the importance of having a great crew:
“Training and development of our crews is a constant process that is crucial to the success of an asphalt plant. A maintenance and best practices checklist is much less valuable than an employee who understands why we do the things on the checklist.”
Nick Richardson, Huntsville Plant Manager

“Empowering your crews to take ownership of their plant is key. When you can get them to care about the condition of the plant, cleanliness, maintenance, and efficiency become a matter of pride – and the crew that runs Candora is very proud of their plant,”
Mike Smiddy, Candora Plant Manager
