Candidates Visit Asphalt Plants Nationwide, As NAPA closes in on 50 Tours This Year
With the midterm elections weeks away, NAPA and its members continue to host candidates at asphalt plants to highlight the industry’s vital role in building the roads their communities depend on.
Last week, congressional candidates visited sites in Montana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. NAPA has coordinated 47 site tours in 2026, putting the association within reach of the 50-tour goal.
In Virginia, Superior Paving hosted Reps. John McGuire (VA-5) and Ben Cline (VA-6) at its Lynchburg and Salem plants, respectively. Both lawmakers took a strong interest in plant operations, from sourcing local materials and testing asphalt mixtures to the projects Superior is delivering to strengthen infrastructure in their districts. The visits gave employees an opportunity to showcase their work and highlight for both lawmakers the essential role Superior’s people and plants play in building and maintaining Virginia’s roads.

“It was an honor to welcome Reps. McGuire and Cline to our plants and introduce them to the team behind our work,” said Kenneth Arthur, Vice President, Central Region, Superior Pacing. “We were proud to showcase our operations and the projects we’re delivering, and their interest made these visits especially meaningful. We appreciate their time and their support for our industry.”
The week’s other visits included Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13) at a CRH plant, NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson at CPI (NC-9), John Moolenaar (MI-2) at a Rieth-Riley Construction Company worksite, and Aaron Flint, the Republican candidate for Montana’s first district, at Knife River.

Site visits like these turn industry priorities into tangible examples. Touring plant operations and meeting employees helps lawmakers and candidates see firsthand how infrastructure policy decisions in Washington affect their constituents and the communities they serve.
With more tours planned in the coming weeks, NAPA is pushing toward its 50-tour goal for the year. Each visit is another opportunity to strengthen relationships and help policymakers better understand the industry that keeps America moving.
