Learn with NAPA this fall
NAPA has three webinars slated for October aimed at improving performance at airfields, mastering asphalt mix selection, and exploring the use of recycled plastics.

On Oct. 15, NAPA’s Amlan Mukherjee will be joined by Randy West of the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University for the latest virtual learning opportunity from the Airport Asphalt Pavement Technology Program (AAPTP), Improving Performance of Longitudinal Joints in Airfield Asphalt Pavements.
Mukherjee and West will present information on construction methods and maintenance of longitudinal joints for airport projects, showing attendees why longitudinal joint performance is a significant concern for airfield asphalt pavements. The webinar will also explore current FAA specification requirements for longitudinal joint construction and best practices for longitudinal joint maintenance.
Learn about the features of the new PAVEXpress Mixture Selection Guide on Oct. 17 by attending Choosing the Right Mix Every Time: Step-by-Step with PAVEXpress.
NAPA’s Brett Williams and NCAT’s Tom Harman will walk attendees through the tool’s features, show how to evaluate mixture options, and demonstrate how it supports informed decisions for project owners, pavement designers, and contractors.
NAPA’s Jean-Paul Fort will join NCAT’s Fan Yin and Randy West to present findings from NCHRP project 09-66, Mechanical Properties of Laboratory-Produced Recycled Plastic Modified Asphalt Binders and Mixtures on Oct. 27 during Recycled Plastics in Asphalt Paving Mixtures via the Dry Process.
The study provided guidance on selecting post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics, laboratory procedures for adding PCR plastics in asphalt mixtures via the dry process. Attendees will gain insight to the global issue of waste plastics, learn recommendations on the types of recycled plastics that can be used in asphalt paving mixtures, and discover ongoing field studies to assess the effects of recycled plastics on pavement performance.
